Vinamilk becomes largest listed firm in Vietnam

With 1.2 billion shares priced at VND102,000 per unit, the capital of the Vietnam Dairy Products JSC (Vinamilk) reached VND122,414 billion (about $6 billion) at the end of the trading session on Tuesday, September 22.

With this result, Vinamilk overcame the Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank) to become the largest company on the stock market.

Currently, Vinamilk lists more than 1.2 billion shares, of which half of a million units are not allowed to circulate. With the increase of VND3,000/share in the Tuesday session, the price of Vinamilk shares reached VND102,000 per share.

Meanwhile, with a slight decline of VND100 per share, nearly 2.7 billion shares of Vietcombank was worth nearly VND118,860 billion. They are the two largest firms on the stock market, with capital worth over $5 billion each.

Of the 10 largest listed firms in Vietnam, there are four banks - Vietcombank, Vietinbank, BIDV and Sacombank. The remaining names in the top 10 are the Vietnam Gas Corporation (GAS), Vingroup, Hoa Phat and Bao Viet.

As of September 22, the top 10 listed firms accounted for 62.41% of the total capital on the stock market, and Vinamilk and Vietcombank contributed nearly 22%.
